In 1996 the BBC collaborated with Sgrin, the Wales screen fund, and the Welsh Arts Council to produce 4 excellent short films: Horse City by Catrin Clarke; Y by Wyndam Price; Bird Man by Greg Cullen; Mannequin by Margaret Constantis.  All went on to win prizes at various short film festivals and helped build careers for talented writers. 

The selection of these four films from 116 entries was unusual in that all scripts remained completely anonymous to the selection panel thereby avoiding the characteristic favouritism that has plagued the industry in Wales.
