Ethical films - Introduction.
The truth is that the contemporary media do nothing to further ethical values. Whether it be the BBC or Hollywood the lowest common denominators are served. Those very few good people with ethical ideas who remain in the system are swamped. The monkeys have taken over the zoo. They reduce God to their level of mediocrity.
Isaiah the profit – 43.21 : “The people I have shaped for myself will broadcast my praise.”
I have always believed in fair play. But there is no fair play when it comes to being an ethical filmmaker. It is my experience that television and film industry is positively anti – Christian. And I write as a former Head of BBC Wales drama. In fact one could argue that the Pharisees of Jesus’ historical time were kinder to Him than the BBC or Hollywood are to his followers today. After all Jesus was invited into the synagogues to preach albeit in the most entertaining and humorous of ways. All I hear and see of Jesus on contemporary television is the word “Jesus Christ” used as an expletive.Hollywood is too cowardly and market minded to use the “f” word, although that too is increasing. Not that I have not sworn a lot in my time although curiously it was seeing myself swearing on television – the BBC made an arts documentary about me – that actually cured me.
This also reinforced my belief that if ethics are seen on television they are valued; as is evil rejected.
